I love Gail as MANY do. Gail knows where to rest during this time. She is OK. I feel it a privilage to be lifting her before God. I recall the peace that she taught me about 20 years ago when I struggled. Go Gail, we love you.

Hospital vigils are so loooooong and tough, but stories & laughs help the waiting heart. There are TONS of great memories out there of J/G/D ... here's one of my favorites.

It was an AJFMC worship service; Jon & Gail had been dating a while; everyone was ribbing them to name the day. During announcements one of them went up to the mic and motioned the other up, they held hands, smiled shyly, and like everyone in the room I thought, "Oh boy! At last! This is IT!" Well, after several seconds of silence and more smiles at each other, one of them said something like this, "We'd like to make an announcement ... I know a lot of you have been looking forward to this ... and so we'd like you to know that we have FINALLY set a date ..." (pause, a shared smile) ... "so ..."(everyone in the room is leaning forward in anticipation) ... "we'd like to announce that ... the Youth Retreat is going to be on xxx weekend and it's going to be great, (blah blah blah) and we hope you all come!" Then, still holding hands, grinning ear to ear, Jon & Gail descend the steps, obviously done with their announcement, with the ENTIRE congregation in shock, practically sputtering, "Wha-? ... Wha-?? ... WHAT? ... that's IT?!! ... " and then laughing (groaning) because obviously the joke was on us.

Of course, Gail & Jon announced their engagement at a later date, but to this day I LOVE remembering when those two pulled that fast one on all of us!!

We are thinking of you all and raising prayers for Gail and for the family. Our church is also praying for you all.
we missed you on Saturday, Jon, and I want you to know that all your hard work culminated in a wonderful send off for Tad. Only thing missing was your and Gail's presence. Thank you for doing such a great job in putting it all together. The memory book was spectacular! Take care and let us know what we can do to help. Love, Shig and Sumi

Dear John and Devon,

I read in one of your early emails that you felt you were in the company of angels. I know that one well, and pray that you will continue to have that sense. My prayers are with you. Love to you both,
Judy Graham

Dear Jon, Devon, Toguchi's and Yoshimine's, We at AFMC were saddened to hear about Gail's condition. We are all lifting her up to the Lord for complete healing and recovery. I remember her as the associated Pastor when I started attending church. She smile and gentle ways made me feel so welcomed. Caring thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. We love you Gail. Wishing you in the hands of the Lord, marilyn fukuda
